Role overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Commercial Delivery Partner to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting commercial decision-making processes. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive and will be instrumental in driving the organisation's strategy.
BlueLight Commercial provides a commercial service to blue light organisations including all 43 police forces across England and Wales. Although this role is home-based, it will be necessary to travel from time to time to other locations to attend team meetings and support national supplier events.
No two days will be the same and the role offers scope for continuing professional development.
My Team and the BlueLight Team
You will be a vital member of our dedicated, professional team, collaborating closely with the Chief Executive, Home Office, Board Members and the Senior Leadership Team. Your role will also involve providing comprehensive commercial support across various services within the organisation, with a strong emphasis on contributing to the overall value and success of BlueLight Commercial.
The role will support the development of efficient ways of working and communicating across a broad range of stakeholders optimising workplace tools and technology that allow delivery at pace via collaboration. We are fully remote and agile and being a team here is exciting and still a bit unique!
My Responsibilities and accountabilities
- Collaborate with the Chief Executive to develop and implement business and commercial strategies that align with the organisation's goals and objectives.
- Provide expert support to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on commercial decisions, including commercial strategies, and risk management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, government agencies, and other public sector bodies.
- Work with finance and analytics teams on financial analysis and modelling to support commercial decision-making and identify opportunities for cost savings, cost recovery and revenue generation.
- Develop presentations and briefings, provide regular reports and present on business & commercial activities, performance metrics, and strategic initiatives for the Chief Executive.
- Collaborate with Home Office on key programmes as part of grant deliverables.
- Develop supplier and market preparation and intelligence briefings for the CEO.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align commercial activities with business objectives.
- Support the CEO in policing reform and PECP (Police Efficiency and Collaboration Programme) activities including developing review processes and key performance indicators.
- Articulate business needs to commercial decision makers and in turn communicates the rationale for decisions back to internal stakeholders.
- Support and implement process improvements to enhance commercial efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead specific projects aligned with business needs and strategic objectives.
- Represent the organisation at events and conferences to promote business development.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
- Carry out all other roles or tasks that are consistent with the level of this post or that fall within the scope of the role thereby ensuring that the overall business and operational priorities of BlueLight Commercial are delivered in a timely and effective manner
You are someone who has attained:
- Batchelors degree (or equivalent) in Business, Commercial, Finance, Law or a related field.
- CIPS qualified to Level 6 and / or a minimum of 4 years’ experience within a commercial environment i.e. commissioning, procurement, contract management.
- You are willing to work towards achieving Government Commercial Function (GCF) accreditation to Commercial Lead level.
Experience and knowledge required:
- Proven experience in commercial / procurement environment, within the public sector preferred but not essential.
- Project and programme management experience
- Written a full business case.
- Worked in complex multi stakeholder environments.
- Highly numerate and analytical, able to recognise financial challenges and escalate accordingly.
- Previous experience of working within the public sectors and / or knowledge of public sector procurement regulations and best practices.
- Proven success in leading, planning and preparation commercial and / or business strategy

- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and advanced PowerPoint skills with proficiency in creating, editing, and presenting complex presentations.
- Familiarity with Power BI is desired, if necessary, training will be provided.
