The Communications & Marketing Lead is responsible for delivering impactful communications and marketing activities that support organisational objectives, strengthen corporate reputation, enhance customer and stakeholder engagement, and contribute to business growth.
The role leads the planning, development and delivery of integrated communications and marketing campaigns across digital and traditional channels. It provides specialist advice on communications, marketing and brand management, supports organisational change through effective internal communications, and ensures that all activities are aligned to organisational values, governance requirements and strategic priorities.
The post holder will work across multiple functions, building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, using insight and analytics to inform decision making, and leading communications initiatives that enhance awareness, engagement and reputation.

The Communications & Marketing Team supports the organisation by delivering strategic communications, marketing campaigns, brand management, stakeholder engagement and internal communications activities.
As a Communications & Marketing Lead, you will work collaboratively with colleagues across all business areas, providing expert advice, developing effective partnerships and contributing to organisational success. You will play a key role in fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, collaboration and customer focus, while supporting colleagues' learning and development.
The role requires proactive engagement across departments and with external stakeholders to ensure communications activities are coordinated, impactful and aligned to business priorities
My Responsibilities and accountabilities (what will I be doing?)
Communications & Content
Lead the creation and delivery of high-quality communications and marketing content across multiple channels.
Develop compelling stories and messaging that support organisational objectives and stakeholder engagement.
Produce communications tailored to diverse internal and external audiences.
Lead content development for key organisational communications and marketing initiatives.
Ensure communications activities align with organisational strategy, values and brand standards.
Internal Communications
Manage and coordinate internal communications plans and activity.
Support organisational change programmes through effective employee communications.
Develop and implement communication channels that improve employee engagement.
Gather feedback and communication insights to inform future internal communications strategy.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of internal communications activity.
Brand & Reputation Management
Implement and manage brand plans and activity within organisational guidelines.
Protect and enhance corporate reputation through effective communications.
Monitor, analyse and report on brand effectiveness and stakeholder perception.
Ensure communications activities reflect organisational values and strategic objectives.
Marketing Campaign Delivery
Lead integrated communications and marketing campaigns using digital and traditional channels.
Develop channel and partnership marketing plans to achieve business goals.
Evaluate campaign performance, applying insights and analytics to improve outcomes.
Use customer and stakeholder insight to enhance communications effectiveness and customer experience.
Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Lead stakeholder engagement activities that raise organisational awareness and reputation.
Influence stakeholders and gain support for communications and marketing initiatives.
Represent the organisation at meetings, events, workshops and presentations.
Manage end-to-end event planning and delivery, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives, brand standards and stakeholder needs.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
Lead and support communications and marketing projects from concept through to delivery.
Coach, support and develop colleagues within projects and activities.
Promote continuous improvement across communications and marketing functions.
Manage priorities effectively and support teams through periods of change.
Demonstrate professional leadership and role model organisational values and behaviours.
Planning, Governance & Performance
Use data, analytics and insight to inform communications and marketing strategies.
Support budget planning, forecasting and value-for-money initiatives.
Identify, manage and escalate risks where appropriate.
Ensure compliance with governance requirements, legislation and organisational policies.
Support contract and supplier management activities where required.
Qualifications & Accreditations
You are someone who has attained:
CIM Level 6 qualification (or working towards).
Relevant qualification in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business or equivalent professional experience.
Evidence of continuous professional development.
Presentation skills training or equivalent development.
Experience & Knowledge.
You are someone who has:
Minimum two years' experience in a Communications and Marketing Management role or equivalent.
Experience delivering integrated communications and marketing campaigns.
Experience leading high-impact projects and initiatives.
Experience managing and coordinating internal and corporate communications plans.
Experience organising and delivering staff or stakeholder events.
Strong understanding of brand management and corporate reputation.
Experience using analytics and insight to support strategic decision making.
Knowledge of customer experience principles and stakeholder engagement.
Understanding of governance, compliance and regulatory requirements.
Experience supporting cross-functional organisational activity

Training Skills Essential
Significant experience using Adobe InDesign and other Adobe Creative Cloud applications (inDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro, Acrobat Pro), Canva Pro to aid the development of digital & print ready marketing collateral.
Experience managing website content through a CMS (WordPress, Drupal, Umbraco, SharePoint), content creation, maintenance & publishing.
Knowledge of WCAG (website accessibility standards), SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) & UX (User Experience) best practise.
Experience delivering email campaigns through marketing automation platforms (Mailchimp, Dotdigital, Campaign Master, Hubspot), database segmentation, campaign optimisation, email analytics, campaign tracking & lead management.
Competent in Google Analytics and digital performance reporting.
Working knowledge of HTML for web and email content publishing.
Advanced Microsoft 365 skills.
Experience with online forms and survey platforms such as Microsoft Forms, SurveyMonkey or Qualtrics.
Technical Skills Desirable
Experience with Power BI dashboards and reporting.
Experience of Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM and Customer Insights.
Experience working with CRM systems and customer/stakeholder databases (Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, HubSpot CRM).
Understanding of GDPR data governance.
Video production and editing capability.
Social media scheduling and platform management (Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Buffer, LinkedIn Campaign Manager) – organic & paid.
Experience with paid social and digital advertising platforms.
